Ethics codes in the public function are important guides of conduct for public officials and preventive tools of the corruption. Those roles not only prohibit corrupt practices but they describe and try avoid the situations which impulse to the violation of the official duties.

Ethics codes, a common practice among the private companies, are also an excellent procedure for governments.
